After you set up an appointment with me I will send you a link to my private HIPPA compliant virtual waiting room. There is no log in or password, it's that easy! Then I will start the video and we will have a traditional therapy session in a virtual room together, it is still a truly scared space and is in the comfort of your own home! You can still unload and process your stress of the week, connecting with your therapist in a deeply personal way and reset your mental state.
Virtual therapy will not be exactly the same as in-person but there is a tremendous amount of research supporting the effectiveness of virtual therapy. I have even heard of therapists saying that they find it even more effective than in-person sessions. But everyone's experience is different.
Your body and mind will still feel the connection; that you’re still communicating with someone who helps to ground you, who knows you, understands you, helping you find your path, and continuing to support you, gently pushing you towards your goals.
I know there are many people out there who rely on their visits to the therapist’s office as it is the only place they feel safe, secure and comforted each week. If this is you, I want you to know that I am here for you. I see you. I get it. And I feel the pain you must be feeling.
Until in-person therapy becomes an option once again, I recommend creating a contained space within your home that is specifically set up for your sessions or even your self-care. This space can even be created in your mind when your eyes are closed if space is limited.
Make sure to be open and honest with your therapist about how things are going. I encourage my clients to let me know how I can make the experience more meaningful and effective for them.
I am so thankful for this format because achieving balanced health is the end goal of your therapist, you may find that the new COVID-19 reality is standing in the way of some connections you are used to having. I never thought I’d say this, but virtual connection is better than no connection, especially in the comfort of your own home.
As a therapist I have been greatly encouraged how effective teletherapy is.
Clients are getting the same great results of in person therapy via teletherapy.
Clients are reporting feeling relief, safe and comfortable with videotherapy and grateful that it's an option right now.
